Privacy Policy
Effective date: 7 July 2026
The short version. Strata is built to be private. Your data lives on your
device by default. Nothing is required to use the app — no account, no sign-up. If you choose
Strata Pro to sync across your devices, your Areas and time entries are mirrored to your
private account so your other devices can read them. We never sell your data, never use it for
advertising, and we don’t run third-party analytics or trackers.
This policy explains what Strata (“the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, and your choices.
Strata is an independent app by Denis Fedosov-Ledovskikh, published under
truenrth.app.
1. Data stored on your device
By default, everything you create in Strata is stored locally on your device
and is not sent anywhere:
- Your Areas (names, colours, icons).
- Your time entries and timer sessions (start/end times, durations, optional notes).
- Data you import from the sources below, converted into time blocks.
- App settings and preferences.
If you use Strata without an account, this on-device data never leaves your device. Deleting
the app removes it.
2. Account & cross-device sync (optional — Strata Pro)
Signing in is optional and only needed to sync across devices with Strata Pro. When you
create an account we process:
- Your email address and a securely hashed password (used only to
authenticate you).
- Your Areas and time entries, which are mirrored to your private account so your other
signed-in devices can read them.
This synced data is tied to your account and is not shared with other users or sold. Our sync
backend is provided by Convex (see “Service providers”). If you never sign in,
none of your data is uploaded.
3. Health & fitness data (Health Connect)
If you connect the Health source, Strata reads the following from Android
Health Connect, only after you grant permission:
- Sleep sessions and workouts/exercise — turned into time
blocks in the Areas you choose.
- Steps — read only as a diagnostic signal to confirm the connection works;
not stored as an activity.
How we handle Health Connect data:
- It is read only to create your time blocks inside the app. Access is
read-only — Strata never writes to Health Connect.
- It is stored on your device. If you use Strata Pro, the resulting time blocks (e.g. a
“Sleep” block from 01:00–07:00) are synced to your own account so your devices agree.
- It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never
shared with third parties for their own purposes.
- With your permission, Strata may read Health Connect data in the background and read
history older than 30 days, solely to keep your day complete.
- You can revoke access at any time in Health Connect settings; Strata then stops
reading new data.
Strata’s use of Health Connect adheres to the
Google Play Health Apps
requirements, including the Health Connect permissions policy.
4. Calendar
If you connect the Calendar source, Strata reads events (their start/end times and
titles) from the calendars you choose, to create matching time blocks. This is
read-only, stored on your device, and — for Pro users — synced to your own account as time
blocks. You can disconnect at any time in your device settings.
5. Purchases
Strata Pro is sold as an in-app purchase. Payments are processed by
Google Play; we never see your card details. We use
RevenueCat to manage subscription status, which processes a randomly generated
app-user identifier and your purchase/receipt information. This is used only to unlock Pro
features and restore purchases.
6. What we do not do
- No advertising, and no use of your data for ads.
- No selling or renting of your personal data.
- No third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, or advertising identifiers.
- No access to your data beyond what’s described above.
7. Service providers
We rely on a small number of processors, only to provide the app’s features:
- Convex — sync backend and account authentication (only if you sign in).
- RevenueCat — subscription status (only if you purchase Pro).
- Google Play — app distribution and payment processing.
These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own
purposes.
8. Storage, security & retention
On-device data is protected by your device’s own security. Account credentials are stored
using your platform’s secure storage, and data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS. Synced
data is retained for as long as your account exists; on-device data is retained until you
delete it or uninstall the app.
9. Your choices & rights
- Use Strata fully without an account — nothing leaves your device.
- Connect or disconnect any source at any time.
- Edit or delete individual time entries in the app.
- Delete your account and all synced data (see below).
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your
personal data — contact us and we’ll help.
10. Deleting your data
- Local data: uninstalling Strata removes all data stored on that device.
- Account & synced data: you can delete your account from within the app
(Settings → Delete account), which permanently removes your account and its synced data. You
can also request deletion by emailing us at the address below.
11. Children
Strata is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do
not knowingly collect data from them.
12. International transfers
If you use sync, your data may be processed on servers located outside your country. We take
appropriate steps to protect it consistent with this policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a
new effective date.
